| Dami International began as Dami Editore, a
small publishing house that had been creating children's books
with patience and care for more than a quarter of a century.
With its offices still located in the heart of Milan, Dami International
is currently comprised of Piero Dami, his son Andrea Dami, and
a handful of collaborators.
Since 1960 Piero and Andrea Dami have been present at all
of the major book fairs throughout the world including Frankfurt,
Bologna and BookExpo America in the United States. In Dami
International they continue their activities on the international
rights market: Dami children's titles have been published
in over twenty languages and in sixty countries throughout
the world. It is estimated that over one half-billion foreign
editions have been printed and sold to date.
Dami International creates all of the titles listed in the
Dami catalogue; rights are not purchased from other publishers.
By keeping activities streamlined, Dami International is able
to create children's books with very high quality illustrations,
texts, graphics and format that can be produced at very competitive
prices.
Dami International books are dedicated to children: from
fairy tales to encyclopedias, values and themes are presented
to children to help them to grow and become an integral part
of society. Dami International does not invest in advertising,
preferring to allow the books to speak for themselves in order
to gain readers and an appreciative public in the publishing
world. The quality of Dami International children's books
is immediately evident to those with publishing experience
as well as to the reading public.
In the past in Italy, Dami has consistently ranked among
the top ten children's book publishers for trade market sales.
As of January 2002, the name "Dami Editore" specifically
refers to the publishing of Dami International titles in Italy.
(Giunti Gruppo Editoriale, based in Florence, has been distributing
Dami Editore books in Italy for over 25 years and will continue
all activity on the Italian market.)
As a result, Dami International has greatly increased the
time and energy it will devote to the creation and development
of entirely new characters and books for children. Focusing
on the international market, Dami International will continue
to bring quality children's books to young readers around
the globe via its well-known artists Tony Wolf & Matt
Wolf and its many colorfully illustrated children's books
for years to come.
